Today, on March 8, the support society for oncology patients “Dzivibas koks” held the general meeting of the members, during which a new five-person board and new chairperson of the board, Gunita Berķe was elected.
The main Latvian problem in healthcare sector is that the patient and relative organizations as well as organizations which are related to health and social care are not sufficiently taken into account when drawing up state policy documents and realizing state or local government specified functions.
The representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Centre of Health Economics, Social and Employment Matters Committee, representatives of the biggest health and social care non-governmental organizations and participants from international organizations: Europa Donna, European Cancer Patient Coalition and others will participate in the conference “Effective patient organization participation in decision-making processes”. Three days left for registration (till February 23) – electronically http://www.dzivibaskoks.lv/?lapa=reg, by calling +371 67625339 or emailing on email@example.com. We especially invite the representatives of mass media.
The Centre of Health Economics is planning to start work on development of patient flow scheme in order to promote effective diagnostics, treatment, dynamic observation and palliative treatment of oncology diseases. It is divided in 4 phases:
2. Specialized treatment;
3. Dynamic observation;
4. Palliative treatment and care.
