AURORA

Basic information

The aim of AURORA project is to identify a common and feasible strategy how to promote Cervical Cancer Screening in the New EU Member States for women of reproductive age (30-69 years old) and ensure the hardly reachable group comprehension. Another aim is to help the new EU Member States in the implementation of evidence-based screening for cervical cancer, and promote European exchange of information and expertise on the development and implementation of good practice of Cervical Cancer Prevention and Advocacy. Knowledge acquired through AURORA will be disseminated in the EU, particularly to EU’s 12 Member States: Latvia, Bulgaria, Romania, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary and Poland.

Methodology

Firstly, the project will carry out the analysis of the Member States by studying the literature related to cervical cancer epidemiology, screening programmes and presentation of the project target group needs. The results will be useful to the identification and analysis of good practices and strategies in the fight against cervical cancer. Also, the results will be applicable regarding the promotion of the cervical cancer screening among the project target groups. AURORA will organise training course for healthcare professionals and training course for advocacy leaders. Both of the courses will be organized at EU level, but specific modules will be adjusted to the partners’ local needs and the specific situation of the cervical cancer screening: to improve the effectiveness of it. Moreover, AURORA consortium will establish network centres, which are already practising cervical cancer screening to test the AURORA methodology, involving trained healthcare professionals. Finally, an e-learning environment will be developed and all people of the participating countries can access this e-learning environment to acquire knowledge and skills related to the project.
